dreams, has led to some lifelong memories and
friendships along with some great stories.
My passion for the outdoors began at an early age
while following my father through the woods and
streams back on the East Coast. My dreams as a
youngster were to someday move out West to hunt big
game and fight huge fish. Well… at the age of 21 I
made my dream a reality when I moved to Montana.
Now, at the age of 35, I have accomplished more than
my childhood dreams could have imagined. I not only
get to enjoy the outdoors, but also make a living
doing so. As for hunting and fly fishing, these are
my passions! I have spent the last 16 years
educating myself on all aspects of the sport and my
personal accomplishments have been my rewards.
For years now, I have been guiding
hunters and floating fly fishermen down the scenic rivers of Western
Montana. My personal desire for success has definitely shifted. It
is now the success of my clients that rewards me the best. Nothing
beats that look on a hunter walking up on his first animal, or the
size of that smile on the fisherman who has just hooked his first
trout on a dry fly. THIS IS WHY I LOVE IT AND THAT’S WHY I DO IT! I
have the experience, knowledge and desire to make my clients’
experiences unforgettable. Each new day in the woods or on the water
gives me the opportunity to make another’s dream become a reality.

Brooks Jessen is an Ennis, Montana native. Brooks says,
“My first
memories as a small boy were riding with my Dad in his jeep in the
mountains near Ennis, catching trout in mountain lakes, and fishing
the Madison River. I also remember helping my Dad drag a big mule
deer buck back to his jeep, and trying to hold up the rack of a 6x6
bull elk. That was in the early 70’s, but I was indoctrinated at
around 5 years of age to be a hunter and fisherman.”
Brooks started
guiding professionally in 2001 by doing fly fishing and big game
hunting work for Carl Mann. He has a lifetime of hunting and fishing
experience harvesting Pope and Young whitetail buck with his bow
along with numerous elk and antelope. Brooks says, “I started bow
hunting and killed a small whitetail buck along the Missouri River
in North Dakota when I was 10 years old. I got real lucky and met a
bow hunting guru who taught me the ethics, patience, and dedication
that it takes to be a proficient bow hunter.”
Brooks moved to
Missoula, Montana in 1995 to finish his studies at the University of
Montana. Taking advantage of some of the best fly fishing in the
west by fishing and floating the Clark Fork, Bitterroot, Blackfoot
and Rock Creek rivers, Brooks has paid his dues and now guides over
110 fly fishing days for multiple fly shops and local outfitters –
from March through September. In the Fall, he will sneak in a few
days of bow hunting for elk and start guiding archery elk hunters
for Carl Mann. Then, it’s the pursuit of trophy mule deer, guiding
hunters in the Missouri River Breaks of Eastern Montana. Brooks
says, “I truly enjoy sharing the moments and opportunities that we
are offered here in Montana with clients. From netting a 22-inch
brown trout, to spotting and putting a hunter on a Boone/Crocket Muley, it’s a rewarding job knowing that I am helping make lifetime
memories similar to my own.”

James Whitescarver grew up in the state of Washington where he began
his career in hunting and fishing as a young boy. His college days
were spent at Central Washington University, where the Yakima River
rainbow fishing and superb bird and big game hunting made it hard to
find time to go to class. While in college, James started guiding
for fishing on the Chosen River in Alaska. In the four summers of
guiding on one of the top rivers in the world, James’ knowledge and
love for fishing grew with each cast. After graduating from college,
James moved to Montana to further his career in fishing and hunting.
Since moving to Montana, James has been guiding for deer and elk in
the Selway Wilderness, where the combination of bugling bull elk at
ten yards, steep terrain, and massive high country mule deer can
make any person appreciate the back country. James has also been
enjoying his time on the water, while guiding on the pristine rivers
around the Missoula area. James’ personality will make your trip an
enjoyable one. His devotion to family, work, and friends is evident
in every action he makes. James possesses the skills necessary to
lead his clients to a successful harvest. He will tell you where to
cast, or which hill to belly crawl up. There is never a dull moment,
and yet there is never any pressure either. He is the perfect guide
for a family outing, as well as for the avid sportsman.
Joe
is a 4th generation Montana native that spent has
spent his life either working on the Stevensville
family ranch, hunting birds, chasing big game, or
with his feet wet in Western Montana waters. After
Joe spent 5 seasons of professional football that
included stints with the San Diego Chargers and
Buffalo Bills, he came back to Missoula and began
guiding in his home state. Born and raised in
Montana, he has spent decades of seeing our area in
every condition. From stalking the giants of the
Bitterroot, to the massive pods of the Missouri and
Clark Fork, Joe loves to feed dry flies to rising
fish. During the late fall you can find Joe
guiding hunters in eastern Montana in pursuit of big
Mule Deer Bucks. Joe is a spot and stalk style guide
who lives in a spotting scope and plays the Mule
deer chess game with focus and patience. He is
friendly, hard working, and relishes the drama that
comes in pursuit of trophies.
